Videx Wins ADI Supplier of the Year Award

We are delighted to win ADI’s Supplier of the Year Award 2017. ADI Global Distribution has the largest branch network in the UK security industry so beating 300 suppliers to win the accolade is a huge achievement!

Each UK ADI product manager selected their top five suppliers, which all ADI employees reviewed and picked a winner based on a range of criteria including customer service, product availability, and technical support. The competition was tough but Videx beat the other finalists to secure the award.

Commenting on the win, Sian Luxton, Key Accounts Manager at Videx, said: “It’s amazing to win Supplier of the Year, considering how many other providers we were up against. The award is definitely well deserved and is an absolute credit to the Videx team who, across multiple departments, from tech support to the estimating team and accounts, has delivered first rate service consistently across the year, providing the ADI team with what they need, when they need it. Well done!”

The award, which was announced at a recent conference attended by ADI Global Distribution staff and suppliers, recognises the expertise, diligence and commitment of the Videx team. Videx has been working with ADI for over 20 years and has developed a strong and stable relationship with the international distributor, which has enabled us to get our wide range of access control and door entry systems in front of the right audience, to help meet their physical security requirements.

New Two Wire Videokits

Introducing a new 2 wire video entry kit that boasts a selection of colour monitors, integrated proximity for up to 50 users or coded access and expandable to multiple doors and apartments.

The wiring of these systems is very simple, meaning installation is quick and easy, so they’re a great door entry solution for houses, flats, apartments and small offices. They’re very flexible too so can be expanded to accommodate additional entrances or videophones, for example, should the need arise.

The system’s features include a day and night camera with illumination, call progress LEDs and an optional second camera input at each entrance for additional security. Up to four devices can be fitted within each apartment with the additional benefit of intercommunication between devices, meaning the video kit is a great choice for residential entry. A choice of videophones and handsfree monitors are available in both the 6000 Series style and the Kristallo style with colour LCD screen size options of 7”, 4.3” and 3.5”.

The new system, which can be expanded up to 12 call buttons and comes in our new updated 4000 series design and also provides either coded access or proximity access on the standard kit, which is integrated into the standard size door panel with the proximity reader concealed behind the name plate window. Additional entrances can also be added up to a maximum of eight. It’s an easy to install, extremely user friendly but highly functional door entry solution.

MiAccess Mifare Proximity Access Control

MiAccess is a new offline, standalone proximity access control system.

The system is ideal for a wide range of buildings that have single or multiple entrances. This includes offices, residential homes and small guest houses, as well as fitness centres, caravan parks and small hotels.

The beauty of the offline access control system is that it can be part of a multiple entrance (80 maximum) system without the need to cable between devices. This means that it’s extremely easy to install and very cost effective too, ideal for smaller installations saving installation time while still maintaining system flexibility.

A free software (PROA-MS for access control and PROH-MS for hotels and guest houses) allows you to configure the different access levels, the user rights, and to view reports. Access rights of each user are stored on the Mifare cards. The system can be completely managed from the user-friendly PC programme, reducing the installation cost and complications associated with routing cables around a building. Multiple sites can be managed from the same PC programme making this ideal for engineers who maintain several installations. The system allows the management of all access points to be controlled from your PC using read/write Mifare cards to transfer data to and from the readers when required or alternatively, data can be transferred using the USB port found on each reader.

This is a complete user-friendly and competitive access control solution. It’s perfect for sites where an online solution cannot be used due to cable restraints, or when a network system is simply not needed. The installation is much easier because the only cabling requirements are to the lock release mechanism and a power supply.

Systems require only one or more Mifare proximity readers (available in a surface silver or black finish and in a flush white, silver or grey finish), the management software, Mifare cards and a USB desktop reader for enrolment. An optional exit push button with a built-in remote relay is also available if higher security is needed.

Video Door Entry Panel for individual apartments

The KR-AV offers individual residential apartments a door entry solution for visitors who have already gained access to the communal main building. The KR-AV enables an additional entry point outside individual apartments so residents can see the visitor on their videophone, talk to them and grant or deny access.

Ideal for residential apartment blocks because it provides added security and peace of mind by enabling residents to verify that they are opening their front door to the person they have allowed initial access to the building and not someone else who may of gained access by other means.

We have developed the KR-AV based on customer feedback and a demand from clients who wanted a door entry solution that could provide greater security within buildings. What’s more, the KR-AV is also useful for residents with disabilities which prevents them from being able to answer their front door in other ways.

The KR-AV is available as a flush mount internal video door entry panel available in white (KR-AV-W) or black (KR-AV-B) finishes or a surface or flush vandal resistant entry point. For use with the VX2200 system, the panels can be used either standalone or as part of a larger system where each individual apartment also needs a local entry panel next to their front door. Features include an integrated colour camera and call button. The internal units also include a service button (to switch on a light or other service) and a coded keypad for resident access control.

A bespoke solution, designed to meet your access control needs

At Videx, we believe there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution when it comes to access control and door entry. Every business and every organisation is different. Access control management requirements therefore vary, which is why our service is fully flexible and adaptable to the needs of businesses on an individual basis.

Whether it’s a public or private building, a school, a social housing development, a hospital, an office block, a private residential home or a distribution centre, we can meet your access control needs. Our systems provide the upmost security as well as a design and look that is compatible with its surroundings. We have in-depth technical knowledge of door entry systems and provide lifelong product support for the systems we supply, wherever they’re installed.

An off-the-shelf solution is not always suitable which is why Videx can create unique systems. We manufacture and provide a wide range of door entry systems from audio and video solutions to GSM, concierge and biometric readers which each carry specific features to meet your entry and security obligations.

Our bespoke service is not just limited to the look, size and feel of the external door panel. We can also fully adapt the system’s software to meet the end user’s needs. For example, with our video door entry systems, we have increased viewing time up to 10 times as long as the standard time for those clients who have requested it. We have also provided bespoke software options which allow multiple doors to open upon authorisation and remain open following very specific commands from the user.

With our customised, client-centred approach we:

  • Provide bespoke door entry panel sizes which can be beneficial when upgraded or replacing an existing door entry panel of a specific size. This can save time and expense making alterations to the cut-out size in the wall or having to repair damaged brickwork.
  • Create bespoke drawings before we make your systems, and provide technical support and assistance for the lifecycle of any product. Whether that’s training at installation stage, supplying a replacement part or helping the further expansion of an existing system, we’re here to help.
  • Adapt our software to meet customer needs to fully achieve their requirements.

New VX2200 Distribution Box for Video Entry Systems

Introducing a new distribution unit, the 316C, for its digital VX2200 range of door entry video systems.

The distribution box makes it easier for video systems to be installed, designed specifically for use with Cat5/Cat6 cabling which is becoming an increasingly popular cable choice for video entry system installations.

The 316C distribution box is specifically designed for the digital VX2200 video systems which enables installers to use standard Cat 5 cable with RJ45 connectors to make the connections between the videophones and the riser. Most installers will be very familiar with the use of RJ45 connections in the fields of access control, door entry and CCTV. The new unit will simplify the installation and help the installer in any fault finding should the need arise.

The new distribution unit can be used with the 6000 Series range of videophones which includes the 6276 3.5” videophone, 6378 3.5” handsfree video monitor, 6478 4.3” handsfree video monitor and the 6778 7” handsfree video monitor. These videophones also include an RJ45 connector.

The 316C unit includes all the bus connections including pass through connections and each unit supports up to four videophones. A facility to use larger cable sizes on the main riser is also included for longer cable distances. Included in the unit is a “power on’ LED to indicate when the distributor has +20Vdc power connected, a “bus” LED to indicate when the 2 wire L and – bus voltage is present as well as an end of line video signal termination switch.

New Digital GSM System

The new system uses mobile technology to communicate and operate doors, automatic gates, car parks and remote site applications, making it a perfect security solution for unmanned sites and communications outside of normal business hours.

It is available as part of the popular 4000 series modular door entry system, a vandal resistance surface or flush panel and can call up to 500 users, each with a divert facility of up to three additional numbers should the others be engaged or unanswered.

GSM systems enable calls to be placed from an entrance point to any mobile or land line telephone. Entry can then be granted using the telephone keypad. Our new digital GSM system offers a number of advanced features and flexibility for users. For example, the large graphical display enables apartment numbers, resident names, departments and company names to be shown with an easy-to-use scroll facility to help the visitor when searching for the person they’re visiting. There is also integrated proximity access control for up to 2,000 users and a coded access facility for up to 500 users that can be used as a means of entry.

GSM systems require minimum installation and setup time, allowing them to be installed in places which would be too difficult or too expensive to hard wire. There is no need for any cabling to telephone points as the system utilises the existing mobile network infrastructure, allowing calls to be made to anywhere in the world.

Systems can be installed in a very short space of time requiring only the mounting of the entrance panel, the connection to a power supply, antenna and gate or door releasing device. Our new system also comes with a customisable LCD display, back lit keypad for poor lighting conditions and an event log that can record events that can be viewed using PC software.

Programming and maintenance of the user’s details, access control codes and fobs can all be controlled via SMS text messages, via the entrance panel using the keypad and display, and via a PC using either a USB or RS485 connection. The GSM system’s flexibility allows changes to be made remotely without the need to revisit the site. Dry contact relay output, additional switched 0V output, push to exit button input, trade time clock input and auxiliary inputs are also all available.

The Videx Bespoke Engraving Service Reduces Cost and Saves Time

Did you know that we provide an inhouse engraving service for door entry and access control systems? All of our vandal resistant panels, including our popular VR120, VR4K, VX2200 and many more can be customised as you wish.

Our sales team is on hand to develop your range of door entry systems exactly how you want them – size, style, look and feel. The engraving service is a key part of our bespoke, tailored approach. As well as featuring engraving for apartment numbers, many clients ask for a specific logo, company name or block name on the panel. Whether it’s a block of apartments, offices, a school or hospital, our engraving service provides a beneficial additional feature to the access control system.

What’s more, as the engraving can be done inhouse as the system is built, delivery time can be reduced as there’s no need to outsource the engraving process before the system/s are delivered to clients –  saving time, cost and helping to reduce our carbon footprint.

Many clients find our engraving service very useful because it enables call buttons to be specifically named or labelled, helping the caller to speak to the right person or department when they visit. Engraving can also be used to highlight an out-of-hours or emergency contact or reception / concierge service for example. Perfect for both professional and personal use, our engraving service can be tailormade to meet your access control needs. To find out more about this service, please contact the Videx Sales Support Team on 0870 300 1240.

4000 Series Weather Frames

A new range of rain shields are now available for the popular 4000 series modular door entry range.

The 4000 series is an audio and video entry panel system to meet a wide range of access control needs. It can be customised for any application range, from smaller installations such as residential and private housing applications, to large installations including local authority and house association properties.

Designed to be completely compatible with the 4000 series, the rain shield shrouds offer additional environmental protection to the entry panels without affecting the aesthetic appeal.

They are available for both flush and surface mount entry panels in 1,2 and 3 module frames in the same colour, gun metal grey, as the 4000 series frames and back boxes. For flush boxes, they ensure a good seal between the wall and the frame which is especially useful when mounting the flush panels into uneven surfaces.

A very popular choice of door entry system for local authority and housing associations is the Videx VR4K which the shrouds are also suitable for.
