VR4K Proximity Reader Modules (Portal Plus)

There are three available VR4K series proximity readers for use with the Portal Plus access control system.

VR4KPPM reader: Wiegand 26bit proximity reader. The reader has resin potted electronics keeping it sealed from the elements. With RFID, EM4102/EM4200 technology and an operating frequency of 125kHz it has a read range between 8 – 10cm. It is compatible with PBX1E fobs and PBX2 cards. It can also be used with the S-Prox (SC24000) standalone 2 door proximity controller.

VR4KEMP reader: EM and HID compatible, Wiegand proximity reader. It includes a tri-colour halo LED: green for accept/access granted, red for access denied and amber when idle, providing the user with clear indication of the status of the reader. It also has an operating frequency of 125kHz and a read range of up to 6cm.

VR4KMFP reader: Mifare proximity reader with Wiegand output. Like the VR4KEMP reader it also has a tri-colour halo LED: green for accept/access granted, red for access denied and amber when idle. It has an operating frequency of 13.56Mhz with a read range of up to 6cm. It is compatible with Mifare classic, Mifare plus, Desfire and Ultralight fobs/cards.

Like the rest of the VR4K series modules the VR4KPPM, VR4KEMP and VR4KMFP are manufactured from 12 gauge, 316 grade vertically brushed stainless steel and is compatible with the full range of 4000 series surface and flush back boxes.

VR4KEMP:

  • Material: 12 gauge, 316 grade vertically brushed stainless steel front fascia
  • Compatible CPUs: Portal Plus EWS/EWSi controller
  • Status LED: Tri-colour LED (green = accept/access granted, red = access denied, amber = reader idle/standby
  • Supported protocols: Wiegand 24bit, 26bit (default), 32bit, 34bit, 35bit, 37bit, 40bit and 42bit
  • Operating frequency: EM 4002/4100 125kHz and HID 125kHz
  • Read range: 1 – 6cm
  • Compatible fobs/cards: see product variants below
  • Power input & current: 9-14Vdc, 45mA (max.)
  • Module protections: IK09 impact protection, IP55 ingress protection (front fascia) and IP40 for the reader enclosure
  • Module dimensions (mm): 103 (W) x 120 (L) x 38 (D)

VR4KMFP:

  • Material: 12 gauge, 316 grade vertically brushed stainless steel front fascia
  • Compatible CPUs: Portal Plus EWS/EWSi controller
  • Status LED: Tri-colour LED (green = accept/access granted, red = access denied, amber = reader idle/standby
  • Supported protocols: Wiegand 24bit, 26bit (default), 32bit, 34bit, 40bit, 42bit, 56bit and 58bit
  • Operating frequency: 13.56MHz
  • Read range: 1 – 6cm
  • Compatible fobs/cards: Mifare classic, Mifare plus, Desfire and Ultralight fobs/cards (also see product variants below)
  • Power input & current: 9-14Vdc, 45mA (max.)
  • Module protections: IK09 impact protection, IP55 ingress protection (front fascia) and IP40 for the reader enclosure
  • Module dimensions (mm): 103 (W) x 120 (L) x 38 (D)
  • VR4KPPM – Vandal resistant 4000 series Wiegand proximity reader for the Portal Plus & S-Prox (SC24000) access control systems
  • VR4KEMP – Vandal resistant 4000 series EM and HID compatible, Wiegand proximity reader for the Portal Plus access control system
  • VR4KMFP – Vandal resistant 4000 series Mifare proximity reader for the Portal Plus access control system
